Formal Dining Room

A visit to the famed French restaurant La Grenouille¹ [Fr: “my little frog”] in New York City provided the theme for this upscale dining room.

Calming wall and drapery colors and textures combine with rich, warm mahogany wood furnishings, and elegant accessories for an exquisitely pampered dining experience.

Walls painted in a tone reminiscent of the color of a Tiffany gift box envelop the room. Elegant cotton chenille velvet Jacquard panel drapery swags in a slightly darker tone are trimmed with fringe from London.

Adjustable lighting is provided by a crystal chandelier from France to which silk shades have been added.

A crotch mahogany dining table with wood inlay and brass claw foot toe caps is at home with a matching buffet also featuring crotch mahogany, wood inlays, and brass hardware.

Hand carved Chippendale dining chairs covered in a silk and linen Jacquard fabric, provide comfortable seating for extended after dinner conversations.

After dinner, turn down the chandelier, and turn on the slender buffet lamps. Crimson red custom smock pleated silk shades cast a warm glow for an intimate mood.

Pleated silk pillows in crimson red pick up the color of the buffet lamp shades, and are contrasted with faux lynx fur pillows to add panache.

Cut crystal urns on silver leaf wall brackets repeat the sparkle of the chandelier.

A stacked trio of silver leaf framed vintage etchings, illustrating dining vessels, hangs between the windows, and highlights the height of room.

An oversized, custom silver framed mirror over the buffet reflects the beautiful room.

A large custom floral bouquet inspired by La Grenouille, known for its lush arrangements, presents a grand focal point.
